Meet our 2022-2023
Executive Board
Angelina is a 4th year Psychobiology major. As President, she organizes and leads all club meetings and events, oversees officer duties, and coordinates visits from optometry admissions offices and optometrists. At UCLA, she is also the Feature Twirler (“Golden Girl”) of the UCLA Marching Band, a Celsius Student Marketing Ambassador, a Glow Recipe Student Ambassador, a FITWELL Consultant at the John Wooden Center, and a member of Alpha Epsilon Delta. She has had a wide range of optometric experiences including shadowing/working for both group and private practices, conducting research at UCLA Stein Eye, and volunteering at health fairs. Outside of her activities, she loves working out, traveling, exploring new restaurants/coffee/boba shops, and going to music festivals. She looks forward to starting her first year at Berkeley Optometry in August 2024!
Angelina Chen
President
Benjamin is a 4th year Psychobiology major from Irvine, California. As Vice President, he oversees officer duties alongside the President, coordinates the family system and community representatives, and helps lead meetings and club events. At UCLA, he is one of the Feature Twirlers for UCLA Marching Band and an active member of Kappa Kappa Psi. His optometric experience ranges from shadowing, interning/working at a clinic in Westwood, conducting research at UCLA Stein Eye, and attending Berkeley Opto Camp. Outside of school, he also serves as a K-12 tutor and still competes in baton twirling at the national and international level. He also loves attending concerts, drinking coffee and boba, traveling, and exploring Los Angeles. He is excited to be attending Berkeley Optometry next August as a part of the Class of 2028.

Vice-President
Genelle is a 3rd-year Biology major and Global Health minor. As Co-Finance Coordinator, she works on coordinating quarterly fundraisers and managing the club’s finances for our club’s scholarship and events. Her experience in optometry includes both shadowing and interning for optometry practices both in LA and back in her hometown. She is currently studying for the OAT while participating in volunteer health fairs for vision screenings. Outside of optometry, she is a part of DIG at UCLA as a treasurer, plays tennis, and crochets.

Co-Finance Coordinator
Lucy is a 3rd year Biology Major. As Finance coordinator her responsibilities are to work with Genelle, coordinate fundraisers for each quarter, and manage the organization’s finances in order to provide some scholarships for our members and events like trips to optometry schools, social events, and the end of the year symposium. She currently has been shadowing two optometrists in Soledad Optometric which is located in East LA. During her free time she loves being with her family and friends back at home, exploring new places with them, trying new foods, watching different shows, and she loves to cook. During her long breaks she likes to travel to Mexico to visit her family.
Lucy Valdez
Co-Finance Coordinator
Nhu is a 2nd year Psychobiology major. As Administrative Coordinator, she sends out weekly emails, designs quarterly newsletters, and responds to any club emails. She is also currently an active member of VCH at UCLA. She spends most of her time at home in Orange County where she teaches piano and works as an optometric assistant at Dr. Diana Risco & Associates in Costco. In her free time, Nhu likes to weightlift, explore new cafes and restaurants, and try out new things with friends, like going to music festivals.
Chon Nhu Nguyen
Administrative Coordinator
Sarah is a 4th year Physiological Sciences major. As Social Coordinator, she plans and organizes the club’s engaging social activities, board retreats, and team-building outings. At UCLA, she is also on the educational outreach committee for Bruin Vision Project and DEI committee for Dermatological. She has worked in 3 different optometry clinics and currently works at Hollywood Optometry as an optometric assistant/receptionist. Outside of optometry, she loves to play volleyball, basketball, explore different cafes/restaurants, binge anime and shows, and travel. She is excited to start her first year at Berkeley Optometry School this year!
Sarah Huh
Social Coordinator
Crystal is a 4th year International Development student minoring in global health and information and media literacy. She currently serves as the Publicity Coordinator which entails running all of the Pre-Optometry’s social media accounts. She designs graphics, logos, flyers, and slides for all club events in addition to taking all club photos and videos. She also designs the club apparel. She is currently an optometric intern at a local Westwood practice. In her free time, she enjoys trying new recipes and embroidering.
Crystal Trinh
Publicity Coordinator
Michelle is a 3rd year Biology major. As mentorship coordinator, she organizes all aspects of the undergraduate and post-graduate mentorship programs and their respective events, as well as oversees the alumni network through quarterly newsletters. At UCLA, she is also involved at the Stein Eye Center through research and volunteering. In her free time, she loves to explore and travel, read, write, and play the piano.
Michelle Duong Mentorship Coordinator
Andersen is a 4th year Physiological Science major. As Technology Coordinator, he manages Zoom meetings, web pages, and assists with equipment during meetings. He is an employee at UCLA’s student optometry office, and a tutoring volunteer. In his free time, he enjoys golfing.
